Shoe Re-fit

A week ago I mentioned that I will work on a shoe project and I am finally done with it. Was pretty busy but I managed to get everything done during a teleconference (Imagine that?). Anyway let me show you why this pair of shoe needs rework.

Some might say just go buy a new pair but I like it cos it has chunky heels which means I can wear for long hours without having to worry about back pain or hurting sole. Also, the condition of the shoe is not too bad except for the sole (My mum say my feet is good at eating shoes, the evidence speaks for itself) and I can't find the exact pair of shoe as it is no longer in season. So what I did first is remove the fabric/leather backing.

So now the sole is left with the foam sole which is badly stained at the back where it was exposed to the elements for months. So I cleaned it with nail remover to clean it as well as whatever glue is leftover around the sole. And initially my plan is to mod podge it with fabric paper but not quite sure how long lasting the result will be but another thought came to me. There is such a thing as sole protectors for heels, for pumps, for track shoes etc. So off to the shops I went and saw this leather lined sole protector which has a similar color to my shoe and it is for $15.20 and I know it will not stick well to the sole due to the curvature so I decided to buy some nails to nail it down and the nails go for $0.80. So altogether it doesn't cost me more than $16.00 since I already the glue gun and hammer.

So I hot glue the sole protector and stick it to the base then I nailed the nails to some spots which it doesn't sit well and here's the completed product. So happy to be able to wear it again without embarrassment and if it can last me another say 6 months I would say the $16.00 is well worth it.

My mum still felt I should buy a new pair of shoes instead but how can I buy a new pair of shoe for $16.00 in the design I wanted? For now I shall just enjoy this pair of shoe for as long as it last.
