Leather Armchair

I have a leather armchair made from bonded leather, after months of sitting on it and lying on it, a part of it starts to tear. I finally got some time and fixed it which I am going to show you in this set of pictures.Actually the last photo turned out to be blurry but the real result is much better than it looks, there is a certain shine to it but at least the leather is now 'bonded' back to the armchair. And what did I use it to 'glue' it back? It was Mod Podge, something I bought for craft work. Amazingly it works well with leather as well. Lesson learnt though is matt Mod Podge will perhaps work better for this DIY repair compared to the gloss version I got

Shoe Re-fit

A week ago I mentioned that I will work on a shoe project and I am finally done with it. Was pretty busy but I managed to get everything done during a teleconference (Imagine that?). Anyway let me show you why this pair of shoe needs rework.

Some might say just go buy a new pair but I like it cos it has chunky heels which means I can wear for long hours without having to worry about back pain or hurting sole. Also, the condition of the shoe is not too bad except for the sole (My mum say my feet is good at eating shoes, the evidence speaks for itself) and I can't find the exact pair of shoe as it is no longer in season. So what I did first is remove the fabric/leather backing.

So now the sole is left with the foam sole which is badly stained at the back where it was exposed to the elements for months. So I cleaned it with nail remover to clean it as well as whatever glue is leftover around the sole. And initially my plan is to mod podge it with fabric paper but not quite sure how long lasting the result will be but another thought came to me. There is such a thing as sole protectors for heels, for pumps, for track shoes etc. So off to the shops I went and saw this leather lined sole protector which has a similar color to my shoe and it is for $15.20 and I know it will not stick well to the sole due to the curvature so I decided to buy some nails to nail it down and the nails go for $0.80. So altogether it doesn't cost me more than $16.00 since I already the glue gun and hammer.

So I hot glue the sole protector and stick it to the base then I nailed the nails to some spots which it doesn't sit well and here's the completed product. So happy to be able to wear it again without embarrassment and if it can last me another say 6 months I would say the $16.00 is well worth it.

My mum still felt I should buy a new pair of shoes instead but how can I buy a new pair of shoe for $16.00 in the design I wanted? For now I shall just enjoy this pair of shoe for as long as it last.

Next Project

My next project which I initially planned to work on today but had to be postponed as I had to go meet friends is a shoe project....keeping my fingers crossed that it will my ideas can be translated into action and into a success!

Ta-da

I finished with my paper storage and in the end I didn't even had to make a single cut.

See the before and after.
